  Steely Dan is back on vinyl where they belong! This 50th Anniversary Edition of their classic Countdown to Ecstasy on 33 1/3 RPM from Geffen/UMe, is part of a year-long reissue program featuring the band’s first seven records, initially released between 1972 and 1980.

  Steely Dan’s songwriter/musicians Walter Becker and Donald Fagan were “anti-rock & roll,” defying all it’s conventions with their sly lyrics and jazz/R&B leanings. Their sprawling 1973 sophomore LP Countdown to Ecstasy was a hit with the critics, but failed to generate a hit single, even though the reluctant band supported it with a tour their last. The gold-selling album includes the tracks “Bodhisattva,” “My Old Scho
