• The Buena Vista Social Club’s debut album, also titled “Buena Vista Social Club,” was recorded in 1996. The seven-day recording session with Ry Cooder and Nick Gold at EGREM studio in Havana is legendary today. Over the years, the album became the most successful album of Cuban music and the best-selling world music album ever.
  Already during the sessions for the album and at some of the concerts that followed, director Wim Wenders began recording for the documentary film, also titled “Buena Vista Social Club.” The film and the big world tour became extremely successful and the Buena Vista Social Club won new friends all over the world for their music from pre-revolutionary Cuba – the “Son Cubano”.
