• Song for My Father (Cantiga Para Meu Pai), released in 1965 on Blue Note Records, is one of pianist and composer Horace Silvers most celebrated works. Recorded with two separate quintet lineups, the album fuses Silvers signature hard bop style with Latin and Brazilian rhythmic influences. The title track, inspired by a trip to Brazil and featuring Joe Hendersons iconic tenor saxophone line, remains one of the most recognizable compositions in jazz history. The albums balance of swing, soul, and melody gives it both sophistication and accessibility, qualities that helped define Blue Notes golden era. Within Silvers catalog, Song for My Father stands as a defining statement of his compositional genius. Pieces like The Natives Are Restless Tonight and Que Pasa? demonstrate his flair for groove
