Dreyer, Domenico Maria (c.1680-c.1740)

Description:

Booklet is also full of content! A Collection of Oboe Sonatas by a Composer Who Dissipated to Russia at the Age of 34In the tradition of Italian oboe music that continues with Vivaldi, Marcello, Albinoni, and San Martini is Dreyer’s beautiful collection of oboe sonatas. Dreyer was previously believed to have been born around 1680 and died around 1740, but records have recently been discovered that he was born in Florence in 1701 and died in Russia in 1735 at the age of 34 due to an “unfortunate accident. The difference is 21 years in birth year and 5 years in death year. The booklet (English, 12 pages) includes a chronological introduction and explanation of facts about Dreyer by musicologist Elena Abbado (niece of the famous conductor), an examination by the performer Bernardini of the connection with Vivaldi’s works, and the Baroque painting “Musicians for the Soul,”
