Here, well focus on introducing some lesser-known pieces. Nos. 18 and 19which can be considered alternative versions of the same pieceare brief but showcase intense, virtuosic technique; another key point is that the middle section features a melody strikingly similar to the main theme of the famous symphonic poem Prelude. Nos. 617 are works Liszt began composing around the age of 13, during his time as a child prodigy; while they show some signs of immaturity, it is the novelty of their content that deserves our attention. What is astonishing is that these works, penned by this young boy, represent the embryonic stage of the *Transcendental Etudes* he would complete some 25 years later; significant similarities can be seen in both the melodies and the technical concepts.
