Steven Gaber: String QuartetsAn American composer born in 1948, he studied under Robert Paris, J.K. Randall, Earl Kim, and M. Babbitt. His early style was atonal. Until the 1970s, he composed many twelve-tone works. He composed String Quartet No. 4 for the Fine Arts Quartet and String Quartet No. 6 for the Amarnet String Quartet. All the works on this album were composed during his later period. Fantasy, Fugue, and Chaconne features tense, intense music for viola and cello.
