Abbado & the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra: A Moving Performance of Mahlers Symphony No. 9The Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra was founded in 1997 by Claudio Abbado. Its members are talented young musicians selected from across Europe. This video captures a concert held in 2004 at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory Hall in Rome. Abbado has recorded Mahlers Symphony No. 9 live with the Vienna Philharmonic in 1987 and with the Berlin Philharmonic in 1999; in addition, following this 2004 live performance with the Mahler Jugend Orchestra, he also left behind a live recording from August 2010 with the Lucerne Festival Orchestra (ACC10214BD/ACC20214DVD).
