Piazzollas (19211992) tangos have already achieved universal recognition, and it is now commonplace for them to be performed on a wide variety of instruments, much like the works of J.S. Bach. His compositions are compatible with any instrument and blend in seamlessly, as if they had been intended for that instrument from the very beginning. This album marks the first recording of Piazzollas works for solo trombone. Famous pieces such as Oblivion and the frequently heard The History of the Tango emerge in a completely new guise. Of course, the virtuosic skill displayed by Real Makopoulos, who takes on the solo role here, is truly breathtaking.
