This is true Nordic lyricism!Sinding: Piano Works, including the masterpiece Whispers of SpringChristian Sinding (18561941), one of Norways leading composers alongside Grieg, is best known for Whispers of Spring, but he also composed numerous other beautiful short pieces. With the exception of the Piano Sonataa major work lasting over 20 minutesall the pieces on this CD are short works lasting two to three minutes. While his music shares certain elements with Griegs, perhaps due to his long stay in Germany, his individuality shines through within a solid structural framework. As the seasons change, lets listen to this in a warm room and let our thoughts wander to the Nordic region. Lowenthal, whose complete Tchaikovsky Piano Concertos have been well-received, was born in 1932. A virtuoso who studied under Cortot and Rubinstein, he brings a profound depth of expression to these lyrical minia
