In the late 1960s, when The Three Sounds returned to Blue Note, the trio had further evolved its unique sound and broadened its musical scope. On *Soul Symphony*, pianist Gene Harris, bassist Henry Franklin, and drummer Carl Burnett perform compositions written, arranged, and conducted by Monk Higgins, accompanied by woodwinds, brass, and strings.
