Every summer, theres one album I never fail to listen to: Natsuki Tamuras 2004 release, *KoKoKoKe*. On a midsummer afternoon, the eerie atmosphere created by those onomatopoeic monologues and musical riddles really hits the spot. Its probably my favorite piece among all the wind instrument solos Ive ever heard, and I used to think there was no performance that could top itbut is this a sequel? If so, Id be delighted. Marking his 70th birthday, hes released a solo album titled *Koki*a direct reference to his age. Created during his time in lockdown, this album features him playing the piano and even banging on a pot, but no matter how I listen to it, it feels like a continuation of those enigmatic puzzles.
