Released as an original pairing with Shostakovich: Concerto No. 5 for Orchestra, which Kremer and Dohnnyi premiered.Composed in 1987, Glasss Violin Concerto is a work that fuses classical and minimalist styles. Structured in three movements, its melodic and harmonic beauty exemplifies Glasss artistic vision. Furthermore, as the first performance by a classical-style orchestra, it also demonstrates new possibilities for Glasss works. Shostakovichs Concerto for Orchestra was premiered by Kremer and Dohnnyi, and this performance is, of course, the first recording (the same goes for Glass).
