Rossinis sacred tragedy *Moses in Egypt* interweaves the Old Testament story of the prophet Moses leading the Hebrew people out of Egypt with a love story between the Pharaohs son, Oziride, and the Hebrew girl, Elchia. In this production at the 2011 Rossini Opera Festival, Graham Vicks set design projected the world of the opera onto a contemporary Palestine. Blood-stained people walking through the aisles, a Moses reminiscent of Osama bin Laden Needless to say, it was an extremely sensational production.Musically, Alex Esposito, in the role of Pharaoh, displayed an overwhelming presence, and the castingincluding Sonia Ganassi and Dmitri Korchakwas impeccable.
