BASIC is a trio featuring Chris Forsyth, Mikel Patrick Avery, and Douglas McCombsniy. Using guitars, drum machines, samplers, homemade electronic devices, and a variety of percussion instruments, they fuse their vast range of influences and diverse musical backgrounds to traverse art rock, trance jazz, and collective improvisation. This album is characterized by a free-spirited and addictive sound that further develops the nocturnal guitar explorations of their debut, effortlessly traversing Tuareg rhythms, angular guitar, gritty funk, dub-like bass, and highlife rhythms. By fusing non-Western rhythms, acid/psychedelic elements, and funky harmonics, they express electro-acoustic groove music that stimulates the depths of the body and the nervous system.
