Latest remastering of Franck’s Symphonies (VPO, 1953), 2-track, 38 cm, open reel tape reissue series From the ProducerFrank session-recorded in 1953, this is the first reissue since GS-2169 (2017/out of print). Once again, two-track, 38 cm open-reel tapes were brought into the recording studio, and the entire mastering process was done with professional equipment. The result is so overwhelmingly wonderful that even the mastering engineer was astonished. The sound is as diverse as a kaleidoscope of tones, capturing everything from soft and subtle expressions to a huge, reverential sense of scale. It is perhaps the closest thing to Furtwngler’s raw sound. So, what should I pair with this flank? I had a number of candidates, and I had a hard time deciding.
