Formed in 2021, the Sonus Quintet is Germany’s first reed quintet, consisting of clarinet, bass clarinet, saxophone, oboe, and bassoon. In their first year of existence, they have already won six international awards and are embarking on a mission to pioneer the “reed quintet” sound in the German classical music world. Their debut album features arrangements of Gershwin’s “An American in Paris,” Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata,” and Grieg’s famous “Air” from the “Holberg Suite” adapted to this unique arrangement, plus an original composition by David Beidenbender in 2015, ” Reflection” is coupled with an original composition composed by David Biedenbender in 2015.
