Description:

The third in the series of Anda’s virtuoso performances of Schumann and Chopin, which fully convey the virtuosity of her technique and rich emotionality, all reissued from the original WDR archive masters. The first album features Schumann’s Carnival & Kreisleriana (1955) and Symphonic Exercises (1953), both of which have become famous through studio recordings. Live performances included the Salzburg Recital of ’56 (ORFEOR.742071), which overlaps all the repertoire recorded here except for the Romance, which is the first time the repertoire appeared, and the Symphonic Exercises in Edinburgh in ’55 (BBCL.4135). In later years, the Symphonic Exercises (63) and Kreisleriana (66) were also re-recorded in stereo.
