Vasks’ Unique Breathtaking World Petris Vasks is a composer born in Latvia in 1946. His symphony, written in 2007/08, is a 40-minute long work with a rich Finnish atmosphere, and a beautiful, God-made music. It is a breathtaking 40-minute work about love for the land and the never-ending struggle between darkness and light. The Flute Concerto has a symmetric structure, with a rough middle movement flanked by quieter, more beautiful movements. Chorales and long, breathy passages played by the wind instruments create an air of contemplation and solace. King International
