Somehow light sounding. Mozart’s “Grand Partita” and “Aria of the Queen of the Night” by the Quintet Ensemble!!!SACD hybrid disc. This disc contains Mozart’s “Grand Partita” and “Aria of the Queen of the Night” by a quintet ensemble (oboe, violin, viola, cello, and fortepiano) composed mainly of players who are active members of La Petite Band. The number of players has been compacted from 13 to 5 in this “Grand Partita”. The arrangement is by Christian Schwenke (1767-1822), a friend of Mozart’s clarinetist Anton Stadler, who served as cantor of Hamburg after C.P.E. Bach. The smaller size of the ensemble does not make the music sound “unsatisfactory”; rather, the ensemble becomes clearer and more lighthearted.The bonus track, “Aria of the Queen of the Night,” was originally arranged for oboe and string quartet by Rosinac, a contemporary of Mozart, and arranged by DeMeyer for this arrangem
