Jan Novak is a 20th century Czech composer of classical music. Active mainly in the 1960s, he composed not only classical music, but also music for the films of his native Karel Kahinya and for the films of animators Izy Trnka and Karel Zeman, who were central figures in Czech animated films. Under the pen name Ianus Novk, he is also a multi-instrumentalist who has worked as a contemporary Latin poet and was awarded the Magna Rouse at the Latin Poetry Competition in Amsterdam in 1970.
