The single-movement Symphony No. 10, composed by Mendelssohn when he was only 14 years old, was written under the guidance of his teacher Zalter in the manner of the classical school of a century ago, and is a lilting, free masterpiece with a unique sound that is both steeped in tradition and filled with youthful curiosity.
