The quintessence of Rousset! He has taken on the challenge of leading Les Talents Lilique to perform orchestral works by Rohaie! Christophe Rousset’s Loire is naturally thought of as a clavesan piece, but this new album is a collection of orchestral pieces. This is an intriguing album of suites from his plays, conducted by his handler Les Talents Lilique, and with the exception of “Pilus,” all of the pieces are world premiere recordings. Rousset’s 1993 release on the Oiseaux Reels label of a disc of Rohrleier’s Klavsin pieces was highly acclaimed as a masterpiece, and in 2009 he released a new recording on the ambroisie label that attracted a lot of attention. Although harpsichord pieces are well-known, orchestral works are rare, and this disc will lead to the rediscovery of a new aspect of Royer’s music. The orchestral numbers of dramatic music, such as dances, marches, and yells, revea
