This is a collection of flute works by Luigi Hugues (1836-1913), a 19th century Italian geographer and amateur musician of some renown, known today as a composer and arranger of flute music and for his contributions to the teaching and history of geography.Paolo D’Armolo is a flutist who graduated with highest honors from the Turin Conservatory and has served as solo flutist of the Orchestra of the Royal Theatre of Turin and artistic director of the City Opera of Turin. He currently specializes in historical instruments (simple system flutes with keys from 6 to 14), and on this album he uses a Couesnon 8-key romantic flute made in Paris around 1880 and a Pleyel grand piano made in Paris in 1890.
