Paul Ben-Haim was born in Munich in 1897. Before the war, he worked as an assistant to Bruno Walter and Hans Knappertsbusch, but later emigrated to Palestine where he continued his composition career. This album contains over 250 of his works for strings composed between 1945 and 1956. For Ben-Haim, this was a very productive decade, as it coincided with the end of World War II, the establishment of the State of Israel, and other hopeful events, and this is reflected in his works.
