Shakespeares tragedy *Othello* also captivated the imaginations of many composers, including Verdi and Rossini. This album features works connected to Othello and Cyprus, performed by an orchestra from the island of Cyprus, the setting of *Othello*. Coleridge-Taylors suite Othello is a five-movement orchestral suite based on the incidental music for the play of the same name, which was staged at a London theater in 1909. Set against the backdrop of the tragedy on the island of Cyprus, the work features the vivid orchestral sounds characteristic of incidental music. Borensteins Legends of Cyprus was composed in 2025 for the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra. This is its first recording. The album also includes works by Dvok and Schubert.Naxos Japan
