Description:

World’s First Recording Now on CDA broadcast recording made 30 years after the 1929 premiere at the Paris Opera has been revived for the first time in 56 years! While enrolled in the composition program at the Paris Conservatory, Maurice Emmanuel was also a student at the Sorbonne, where he studied ancient Greek music, earned a doctorate, and was later appointed professor of music history at the Paris Conservatory. It is no exaggeration to say that he first gained public recognition as a composer with the premiere of *Salamine*, and it could be argued that his research at the Sorbonne paved the way for his career as a composer.Regulus
