Reinhard Kaiser, a composer of German Baroque music. Based in Hamburg, he gained popularity with over 100 operas. During his active career, he enjoyed a popularity rivaling that of Telemann, but unfortunately, his fame declined rapidly after his death, and today his works are rarely performed. This Passion oratorio, *Jesus, Bleeding and Facing Death*, had also been forgotten for a long time but has finally been revived and performed once again. The librettist, Hunoert, wove the narrative without quoting the words of the four Gospel writers (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John), and Kaiser set it to innovative and grand music that makes full use of five-part chorus and orchestra. On this album, conductor Klapprott uses the 1729 revised edition to deliver an extremely dramatic performance reminiscent of an opera.Naxos Japan
