The Hebrides Ensemble, one of Scotlands leading chamber ensembles, is led by William Conwayformerly principal cellist of the Scottish Chamber Orchestrawho serves as its founder and artistic director. The Hebrides Ensembles third album on Delphian is a collection of works by Nigel Osborne for soloists and ensemble. Nigel Osborne was born in Manchester in 1948. He studied composition with Kenneth Leighton and, as of 2018, serves as a professor in the School of Music at the University of Edinburgh. He is also known for his work as a music therapist for children who have been victims of conflict in Africa, the Balkans, the Middle East, and elsewhere; this album includes works related to the Bosnian War, such as Balkans Dance and Lament and Adagio for Vedran Smilovi.Tokyo M-Plus
