Description:

A Prolific Composer of American Esoteric NationalismA Collection of Cello Works by Alan Hovhannes!A rare collection of cello works by Alan Hovhannes, whose total body of work exceeds 500 pieces. Drawing inspiration from the music of Japan, India, the Middle East, and his fathers homeland of Armenia, he left behind numerous exotic and mystical works. Iemochi was composed based on a poem by the Japanese poet tomo no Iemochi, creating a unique world while hinting at a somewhat peculiar fascination with Japanese culture. Naguran is a work reminiscent of a cello concerto for cello and percussion ensemble, composed under the inspiration of an Indian epic. It is a masterpiece well worth listening to, in which the mystical tones of the percussion add color to the cellos melismatic and resonant melody.Tobu Land System
