Yasuyo Wazawa graduated from the Vocal Music Department at the Kunitachi College of Music and has received awards of excellence at competitions such as the Japanese Art Song Competition and the Soleil Vocal Competition. She has performed in numerous operas and recitals; she was particularly close friends with Hideo Kobayashi and participated in many of his world premieres. While most of Hideo Kobayashis songs feature a wide vocal range and require advanced technique, Kazuyo Wazawa masterfully navigates them with her stable voice. Through her nuanced distinction between spoken and sung passages and her natural interpretation of the lyrics, she brilliantly brings the world of Hideo Kobayashis songs to life.
