A Special Project Celebrating the 150th Anniversary of Toscaninis Birth!This CD was produced to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Arturo Toscanini (18671957), one of the greatest conductors of the 20th century. Conductor Steven Richman is a great admirer of Toscanini, and here he has curated a meticulously selected program sure to delight Toscanini enthusiasts. Rossinis William Tell Overture and Tchaikovskys The Nutcracker Suite were favorites that Toscanini conducted countless times throughout his career. Bizets *Carmen* was one of Toscaninis signature operas, and he also frequently conducted a suite of his own selection from it during his later years. Toscanini performed Waldteufels *Skaters* only twice, but on those occasions he arranged it for a full orchestra, and that version is used here. Verdis Aida Overture was composed for the European premiere in Milan on February 8
