Recorded in the historic church of Trevi, once part of the Papal States, featuring music by composers of the Papal States. Carlo Mannelli’s Trio Sonata Collection, also known as Corelli’s teacher. Mannerini, a composer, violinist, and castrato singer active in Rome during the Papal States’ peak territorial extent (over 44,000 km), worked not only in the courts of cardinals and nobles but also for churches, religious orders, and musicians’ organizations. While renowned as a violinist, he also devoted himself energetically to composition. Unfortunately, most of his scores were lost, but fortunately, the Trio Sonata Collection Op.2, named for twelve individuals, survived intact.
