Description:

Gregory Priva, a Caribbean jazz pianist, was born in Martinique in 1984. His father, Jos Priva, was the pianist for the Caribbean group “Maravoi,” and Gregory grew up influenced by his father’s music at home. At age 16, upon entering high school, he began composing and abandoned the classical piano he had previously studied, shifting his interest to jazz and improvisational music. Later, while attending a technical high school in Toulouse, France, Gregory began performing live in jazz clubs as a soloist and in trios. He was fortunate enough to perform at the local Martinique Jazz Festival in 2005. After graduating, Gregory decided to pursue a career in the Paris jazz scene. There, he formed the group “TrioKa” with bassist Jean Emmanuel and percussionist William Dub.
