Description:

A collection of orchestral works by composer Garrido-Lecca, born in Peru in 1926. He created a unique body of work by incorporating the passionate rhythms rooted in the traditions of Ibero-America (regions that were once colonies of Spain and Portugal) into an avant-garde style and further fusing them with Peruvian folk music. Includes Symphonic Paintings, which makes effective use of traditional Peruvian dance music; Folk Dance Suite, inspired by Andean folk songs; Peruvian Suite, a collage of Peruvian folk music; and more. All are world premiere recordings. Recorded in 20152016 by the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, conducted by Miguel Haas-Bedoja, among others. (C)RS
