A collection of works by composer Karl Goldmark (18301915), who was born in Hungary and was active in Vienna. One of his best-known piecesthe symphony A Village Wedding, which Brahms is said to have highly praisedwas composed by this self-taught musician. Comprising five movements, this work begins with a movement depicting the wedding guests, and the music unfolds as the ceremony progresses. Additionally, Prometheus Bound was highly praised by the notoriously critical Hanslick. Performed by the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Frank Behrmann. (C)RS
