Following Stravinskys *The Rite of Spring* and Tchaikovskys *Violin Concerto* with Kopachinskaya, Theodor Currentziss new release is a Blu-ray/DVD of Purcells opera *The Indian Queen*. This is a live recording of the performance at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, which caused a major sensation after being reimagined and directed by the visionary Peter Sellars. The Queen of India, which tells the tragic story of Queen Semporawho had seized the throne of Mexicountil she took her own life, was written during Purcells final years but remained unfinished due to his untimely death.
