A new album by Leon Fleisher, the American-born master pianist and conductor, is being released by Sony Classical. Fleisher began performing in his teens and was hailed as a rising star, but in his 30sat the height of his career as a performerhe lost the use of his right hand due to a serious illness. From then on, he devoted himself to performing and conducting with only his left hand, as well as to teaching. Thanks to successful treatment, he recovered enough by 2004 to make recordings using both hands. This album features new recordings from May 2014, performed as a duet with his wife, Catherine Jacobson Fleisher.
