This recording features the Borodin String Quartetarguably one of the worlds premier string quartetsperforming in France. The quartet is also known as the worlds longest-running ensemble; just one week before this recording, they held a concert at Londons Wigmore Hall to commemorate their 65th anniversary. Formed in 1945 in Russia (the former Soviet Union), the ensemble has kept its tradition alive while overcoming setbacks such as the defection and emigration of past members. They have pursued a diverse range of activities, from advising Shostakovich to performing modern French music.
