Description:

Castiglioni is a composer and pianist who graduated from the Milan Conservatory. He was close friends with oboist Heinz Holliger and Holligers student, Omar Zaborli, and has a deep affection for the oboe, having composed numerous works for the instrument. Having studied medieval philosophy and mythology, his compositions are characterized by structures that consciously evoke a mystical atmosphere. Zaborli, a native of Modena, Italy, is a winner of the Ancona International Music Competition and currently teaches at the Turin Conservatory and the Basel State Conservatory in Switzerland. Originally an expert in the Baroque oboe and a leading authority on Italian early music, he began performing on the modern oboe in the 1980s following his encounter with Castiglioni.
