Eric Whitacres New WorkComplete Recording of The Sacred VeilGrammy Award-winning composer Eric Whitacre (b. 1970) is an American contemporary composer who enjoys widespread popularity in Japanfrom professionals to amateursparticularly in the fields of choral and wind ensemble music.His latest project, The Sacred Veil, is a collaboration with poet and lyricist Charles Anthony Silvestri, with whom he has worked numerous times in the past. The work features Silvestris poetry as its main text, along with words left in the diary of Silvestris wife, Julie (Julia Lawrence Silvestri), who passed away prematurely in 2005, as well as Whittakers own texts. It premiered in February 2019 at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, conducted by the composer himself.Comprising 12 pieces written for a four-part mixed choir (SATB), solo cello, and piano, the work draws on texts by Silvestri that speak of l
