The Latin word “dulcedo” “sweetness” was used in its day to describe music of the finest quality.The clavicimbalum, said to be the earliest form of harpsichord, together with the medieval lute and the medieval harp, were loved for their uniquely delicate sonorities.This programme explores that beguiling sound world.[Corina Marti: clavicimbalum]Studied at the Lucerne Academy of Music and the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, taking her degree at the latter. She has won prizes in numerous competitions in Switzerland, Poland and elsewhere. Alongside her solo career she is active as a chamber musician. La Morra, the ensemble she co-directs, has released many highly acclaimed recordings of music from the fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries, among them a complete edition of the works of Johannes Ciconia that won a Diapason d’Or and the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik.
