Their debut album, released in 1981, just over a year after the bands formation. The members were Brixa Bargelt, N.U. Unru, and FM Einheit. Ear-splitting roars and primitive, visceral rhythms emanate from tools such as chainsaws, power drills, and saws; materials and junk salvaged from construction sites and scrap yards; and untuned electric guitars. Brixa Bargelts apocalyptic lyrics, delivered as she shifts between screams, singing, and spoken word. Just when you think thats it, the melody from Serge Gainsbourgs Je taime, moi non plus is suddenly quoted. The starting point for Die Neubauten, which still retains its overwhelming impact today.
