The eagerly awaited fourth Chopin album: Rika Miyatani’s wholehearted Polonaises.Rika Miyatani is a pianist known for playing of intelligence and rich colour. Born in Kanazawa, she studied at the Toho Music School for Children and Toho Girls’ Senior High School before graduating from Toho Gakuen School of Music. In 1995 she won fifth prize at the 13th International Chopin Piano Competition. In 1996, on completing the postgraduate course at Toho Gakuen, she gave debut recitals at Suntory Hall in Tokyo and Izumi Hall in Osaka, and she has appeared with all of Japan’s leading orchestras. She received the 23rd Japan Chopin Association Award and the New Artist Prize at the 9th Hida-Furukawa Music Awards.
