A collection of contemporary double bass works by Paul Cannon, a member of Ensemble Modern!You might think Paul Cannon, the double bassist with Ensemble Modern, is a native German, but hes actually from the Pacific Northwest. A child prodigy who was appointed principal double bassist of the Seattle Symphony at age 14, he went on to play with several orchestras before joining Ensemble Modern in 2014. He is dedicated to expanding the repertoire for the double bass, and most of the works featured on this album were composed specifically for him. The album features works in a variety of formatsfrom solos to pieces with vocal parts, live electronics, string quartets, and collaborations with orchestrasall of which showcase the new possibilities of the double bass.Tobu Shoji Co., Ltd.
