Two oratorios by the composer Willy Burkhardt, who was born in Bern, Switzerland.He studied composition under Siegfried Kalk-Erlert in Leipzig and, beginning in 1928, held a faculty position at the Bern Conservatory, where he nurtured the next generation of musicians while also conducting choirs and small orchestras. Both oratorios included on this album are among Burkhardts masterpieces and are significant religious works on par with those by Martin and Honegger.Naxos Japan
