Description:
Works for Recorder and Orchestra by Four Composers in a Rivalry When Thomas Kantor and Johann Kuhnau of Leipzig died in 1722, Telemann, Fasch, Graupner, and J.S. Bach stepped forward to take their place. As a result, three composers stepped down for different reasons, and a fourth candidate, J.S. Bach, was finally chosen. This album is a collection of works for recorder and orchestra by these four composers, arranged so that the music competes or dialogues with each other, and depicts a fictitious audition. The idea came from the recorder player Turrieshain himself, who wanted to use Telemann’s masterpiece, the A minor Suite for Orchestra, and it is interesting to compare the uniqueness of each piece of music as well as the skill of the recorder.
