Lachenmanns Sho, composed as part of the Suntory Hall International Commissioning Series!The Suntory Hall International Commissioning Series began in 1986, coinciding with the opening of Suntory Hall. Launched under the supervision of Toru Takemitsu, this series has commissioned new works from major international composers nearly every year, exerting a profound influence on the contemporary music world. Rachenmanns Sho was composed as part of the 2003 edition of the series and premiered by the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Kazuyoshi Akiyama. It is a dense and richly colorful piece of music that makes full use of Rachenmanns signature special playing techniques and live electronics. This recording features the baton of Sylvain Cambreling, a renowned conductor well-known even in Japana country with a strong tradition of contemporary music. Double (Greed II)
