It is a work that is quintessentially Beethoven in its innovation, beginning with a piano solo right from the opening of the first movement. Thanks to Rauma Skrides compelling piano playing and the orchestras excellent support, this performance fully conveys the pieces charm. Rauma Skride has also recorded 32 Variations on an Original Theme as a soloist. This work also belongs to Beethovens middle period and continues to be performed alongside the many masterpieces of the Forest of Masterpieces
