Schumann composed many short pieces in preparation for the publication of the *Album for the Young*, but not all of them were included in the collection. The revised edition of *Album for the Young*, published by Henle in anticipation of the 200th anniversary of Schumanns birth and used on this CD, includes all the pieces that were not included in the first edition, as well as those that were omitted during subsequent printings and revisions. As a pianist, Akiko Ishii has not only won prizes in numerous competitions but has also nurtured many students over her long career as a piano teacher.
