Akutagawa Yasushi

Description:

Composer Yasushi Akutagawa (19251989) revitalized the postwar Japanese classical music scene and provided music for a wide range of genres, including film, ballet, and theater. Among his ballet compositions, works such as The Spiders Thread and The Moon are well-known and relatively easy to find on recordings. However, there are almost no recordings or video footage of his early ballet works. There are even works for which the sheet music itself cannot be foundand these are the two pieces now released on CD. For example, conductor Kazuo Fukuda, who conducted *Dream at the Bottom of the Lake*, has stated that he conducted using a handwritten full score and returned it after the performance. It has been confirmed by the composers family, the Museum of Modern Japanese Music, related organizations, and Nanako Yamadawho carries on the legacy of the Takada-Yamada Ballet Companythat the score for
